Soraya Gage
General Manager
Soraya Gage is a
20-year veteran of NBC News. From her start as a NBC page, through
her rise from associate producer to senior producer, she has worked
on major NBC News broadcasts including Nightly News, Dateline, and
TODAY. In 2009, Soraya became the Executive Producer of NBC Learn,
with responsibility for all editorial content and content
partnerships. Presently, she oversees content production for
www.nbclearn.com.
Michael Levin
Director of Technology and
Client Services
Michael is
responsible for all aspects of NBC Learn service delivery to its
customers. Prior to joining NBC Learn, he managed the Technology
Operations for NBC Olympics broadcast in Athens, Greece and Torino,
Italy. Michael attended Pennsylvania State University and graduated
with a B.S. in Management Science & Information Systems from the
Smeal College of Business.
Mark Miano
Executive Editor
Mark Miano started
at NBC News in 2000, producing and writing long-form documentaries
for such clients as the Discovery Channel, A&E, Court TV and
National Geographic. He has also worked at ABC News, Bloomberg
Television, WPIX-TV, The MacNeil/Lehrer Newshour, The New York
Observer, and is the author of three crime novels.
Bruce Wilson
Director of Higher Ed
Bruce G. Wilson
Jr. has twenty years of experience in higher education and spent the
bulk of his career at the Chronicle of Higher Education Inc. where
he began his career in 1990. From 2003 to 2009, he held the title of
Publisher of both The Chronicles of Higher Education and
Philanthropy. In addition to his 19 years at The Chronicle, Bruce
worked as a consultant specializing in admissions, strategic
branding and global programs for clients including the United
Nations, the Humpty Dumpty Institute, numerous NGO's, and 160over90,
the leading Branding agency for the academic community.
Beth Nissen
Senior Producer, Manager of
Teaching and Learning Resources
Beth Nissen is a
veteran news, war, science and arts correspondent who has worked for
The Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, ABC News "World News Tonight" and
"Nightline," CNN "NewsNight," CNN.com, and WGBH-PBS "Nova Science
Now." At NBC Learn, she oversees content for 11 Science collections,
Math and Statistics, and Language Arts, and develops teaching and
learning activities and supplemental materials.
Norman Cohen
Strategic Outreach Manager
Norman has been at
NBC Learn since 2006. At NBC Learn, he creates video collections,
writes and produces original documentaries, produces live town halls
with NBC Learn's partners, and oversees educational outreach
projects. Norman's background is in historical documentary
production. He got his start working for filmmaker Ric Burns on his
PBS series "The Way West," and worked for over 15 years as an
associate producer, producer and writer on documentaries for the
History Channel, A&E and the National Geographic Channel.
Michael McKinney
Senior Manager, K-12
As the Senior
Manager for NBC Learn K-12, Michael leads the efforts in managing
the delivery and educational services to elementary and secondary
school districts. He has spent over 15 years of his career working
with school districts and state department of education agencies
while working for ACT, Inc. (test developer of the "ACT" college
admissions test), McGraw-Hill K-12 Education, and McGraw-Hill Higher
Education. Michael attended Northern Michigan University and
graduated with a B.A. in Media Production, a minor in Speech
Communications and received a Master of Arts in Education from
University of Phoenix.

Caleb Medders
Producer
Caleb is
originally from Pittsfield, Massachusetts and went to school at
Berkshire Community College and then to film school at New York
University. He has a background in documentary filmmaking and enjoys
topics related to American history and film.
Stephen Anderson
Associate Producer
Stephen has
been writing and producing content for NBC Learn since 2007. His
career began in television sales and media relations at the CBS and
ABC television affiliates in Seattle. He then wrote and produced
nonfiction programming for the Discovery Channel, A&E, TLC, and
HGTV. He has also produced segments for Daily Cafe, an NBC News
program on Retirement Living TV, and worked as an assignment editor
for theGrio.com. A native of New Hampshire, Stephen graduated from
Sarah Lawrence College with a B.A. in Liberal Arts.
Ellen Rose
Associate Producer
Ellen is an
original member of the NBC Learn production team. She began her
career as a CNN intern while studying Journalism and Spanish at
Miami University. She was the digital producer/editor for the NBC
Vancouver Olympics mobile site and iPhone application. At NBC Learn,
she has produced content for the English Language, Global Studies
and Science collections, including original videos for Chemistry
Now, Science of NHL Hockey and Science of the Summer Olympics.
Bonny Scheltema
Associate Producer
Bonny joined
NBC Learn in 2007, writing and producing content for original and
archival collections including U.S. History, African American
Studies, Changing Planet, Science of the Summer Olympics, and her favorite collection, Writers Speak to Kids.
Previously, Bonny worked for AETN and in the arts sector.
Niki Budnick
Assistant Producer
Niki has been a
member of the NBC Learn team since 2008. She is lead producer for
the In the News collection as well as the face behind NBC Learn's
Twitter and Facebook pages. Niki has also produced content for NBC
Learn's special collections, including the Science Behind the Summer
Olympics and Science Behind the News. She currently lives in
Brooklyn, New York.
Laura Picardo
Production Associate
Originally from
Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey, Laura is a graduate of Marquette
University where she studied television/radio production, theology,
and history. She began her career with NBC News in 2008 as a
videotape engineer. In 2011, Laura joined the NBC Learn team, where
she assists with producing content for both archival and original
collections. Laura is also a competitive open water swimmer and an
avid reader.
Bryan Kohl
Editor
Bryan Kohl has
worked in video post-production since 1998, with experience in
broadcast television, feature films, and documentary and educational
video. He has been an Editor at NBC Learn since 2007.
George Lazaros
Editor
A native New
"Yawker," George joined the team in 2011 to help with the creation
of NBC Learn's original video content such as the Science of the
Summer Olympics, Chemistry Now and Science Behind the News series.
Although he's a newbie with us, he has over 15 years of broadcast
experience as a video editor and content creator working for MSNBC,
VH1, CNBC, Food Network and ABC News. His work ranges from long-form
documentary-style shows, to music videos, commercials, as well as
news packages for Good Morning America. Prior to working in
television, he spent a few years working in the locations department
on movies such as Smoke, Blue in the Face, and even Die Hard with a
Vengeance. He's also proudly line produced an independent film,
Destination Unknown, which won the 1997 Hamptons International Film
Festival. He currently believes NBC Learn is the best job "evah!"
Carol Aerenson
Archivist
Carol joined
NBC in 1971 where she was a production assistant on NBC News
documentaries. She then was a researcher in the NBC News Archives
department, researching daily for Today, Nightly News, Dateline, NBC
News specials, WNBC and other programs. Carol took early retirement
in 2005, but was called back in 2006 where she was thrilled to come
to NBC Learn to put her knowledge and memory of NBC's archives to
use again for a new generation to enjoy and learn from.
Sales & Marketing
Cara Doronila
Account Manager, K-12
Cara oversees
both K-12 and Higher Ed. accounts, as well as provide customer and
sales support. Before joining the team, Cara worked in the fashion
industry, mainly in PR and production. She hails from the great
state of New Jersey, but is proud to call New York her new home.
Cara graduated from Emerson College with a B.S. in Broadcast
Journalism.
Megan Hauck
Account Manager, Higher Education
Megan is
responsible for sales and client relations working with Colleges and
Universities. She came to NBC Learn from The Chronicle of Higher
Education where she worked with major publishing companies,
university presses, authors and faculty members. Megan graduated
from Hamilton College with a B.A. in Art History and currently
resides in New York City.
Eric Zack
Account Manager, Higher Education
Eric D. Zack joined
the NBC Learn team in August, 2011 after serving as Alumni Director
at Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business. Zack has
over 18 years of experience working with and for academe including
positions at the University of Michigan (his alma mater), the
University of Massachusetts Amherst, and Suffolk University in
Boston. Zack worked closely with higher education institutions
during his seven years with The Chronicle of Higher Education and
while with PeopleAdmin, Inc. Zack currently lives in Washington,
D.C.

Ari Oshinsky
Senior Manager, Technology
Ari has been at NBC for 7 years and manages
product development at NBC Learn, including Flash, Mobile
development, HTML and analytics.
Sanjay Joshi
Senior Manager, Technology
Sanjay brings over
a decade of experience in design, development, architecture and
leadership in web applications platforms. His role at NBC learn is
to manage backend devlopment and 24X7 customer support teams.He also
participates in pre sales and implementation activities. Sanjay has
his Masters in computer science from India.
Daniel Cipoletti
Web Developer
Daniel is the
web and mobile developer for NBC Learn. His responsibilities include
developing features and functionalities based on emerging HTML5
web standards as well as designing intuitive graphical user
interfaces.
Virender Asija
Software Engineer
Virender has over
5 years of consulting experience in design and development of web
applications platforms. Virender will be involved in support and
development of NBC Learn projects. He has Bachelor Degree in
Information Technology from Kurukshetra University, India.
Client Services & Support
Jane Rho
Account Manager, Client Services
Jane is responsible for client services for K-12 and Higher Ed accounts as well as delivering professional development. Jane is a former teacher through Teach for America and received her M.S. in Education from The City College of New York. She taught Secondary Special Education in the Bronx for three years before joining NBC Learn in 2011. Jane is from St. Louis, Missouri and graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.A. in Organizational Psychology.
Chad Wilson
Client Support Manager
Chad is
responsible for ensuring NBC Learn customers receive quick and
friendly support for all their technical needs. Chad began working
with NBC Learn almost 2 years ago and during his time he has
provided support for all NBC Learn users and administration of the
NBC Learn accounts. Originally working in finance, Chad has been
growing his technical skills working with NBC Learn and brings to
his role experience with project coordination and customer service.
Joe Brabant
Client Support Representative
Joe is part of
the NBC Learn Support Team and therefore assists any
customer/internal employee. He has an elaborate background in
technical assistance as well as customer support, having supported a
multitude of products, including many proprietary ones.
